The roles of the manager and coaching approaches

Tools to evolve in a VICA (volatile, uncertain, changing and ambiguous) environment.

Description of the course

A manager's back is wide in this day and age! Indeed, the primary function of a manager has always been to direct and lead his or her team towards the established objectives... but the role of the manager is constantly evolving. In fact, Gary Hamel, author and speaker, considers that management is an invention of the last century and that it is high time to reinvent it!

Are you a manager, a coach, a mentor, a sponsor, a consultant or a bit of all of these? How do you adopt the right posture in a given situation and how can you be effective in each of these roles? Every situation requires a specific role and recognising this is the first step in the right direction.

Once the roles are clear, there are many tools to help the manager assume his/her responsibilities. In addition to mastering all the technical aspects related to their role (know-how), managers must also master the facets of interpersonal skills and the associated competencies:

  1. Communication
  2. Courage
  3. Managing change
  4. Creativity and innovation
  5. Coaching and mentoring
  6. Complex problem solving
  7. Collaboration and partnerships
