Description of the course
Are you tired of the same problems coming back to haunt you? Come and learn how to solve the root causes using a structured eight-step method. Originally developed in the automotive sector, it is the most commonly used approach in the industry for companies with quality certification.
Do you have a simple or complex problem to solve and are you looking for an easy, accessible and quickly mastered method? The 8D process is for you. Come and learn more about this process which can be adapted to any context or type of company.
Throughout the course, participants can work on a real problem from their own organisation, combining business with pleasure and benefiting from the trainer's experience!

1D - Team building
- Who should be in the team?
- What are the roles and responsibilities within the team?
- Includes the unique Managing Director exercise where participants have to put together the ideal team from a list of 12 interesting candidates!
2D - Problem description
- How to bring team members to a common understanding of the problem.
- Understand the importance of data for in-depth problem solving.
- Take your team beyond the obvious.
3D - Containment of the problem
Problem containment remains a crucial step, sometimes even the most important one in the case of some operational problems.
4D - Root cause research
- The core of the training, demonstrating the use of the Ishikawa diagram and the 5 Whys technique to find the root causes of the problem.
- Presentation of an innovative tool in Microsoft Powerpoint to facilitate an Ishikawa diagram session with your team.
- Lots of practical tips for selecting the right cases once the diagram is complete.
5D - Development of solutions
How to choose the best solutions using convergence tools such as the GICS matrix and the weighted matrix.
6D - Implementation of solutions
How to properly monitor the implementation of solutions.
7D - Prevention of recurrence
How to monitor the effectiveness of the solutions deployed to address the problem.
8D - Team recognition
How to develop a culture where the prevention of problems will be at least as valued as the hours spent in a hurry to correct them.
